Celebrating Independence Day...on the fifth.

And now to continue with our weekend of fun..
On Sunday, we had my parents and sister over for dinner. Then my brother and his family joined us for desssert and a nice walk.
On Monday we headed for the lake. It was a small group this year. But what we lacked for in people, we made up for in fun! We love going out on the lake. My dad doesn't really love going to the lake. He tows the boat up, helps set up our beach, and blows up tubes. But he kind of complains the whole time. Someone ought to teach him about being a happy helper, and quality family time. We did manage to get him out on the tube with Emma and Annaliese for a wild and crazy ride.
Spencer was not a big fan of the life jacket, but he was a big fan of riding in the drivers seat behind Scot. He even fell asleep in there.
We got some kids learner skis this year. So Emma tried skiing. It didn't go that well. And then the bar that connects them broke. Dumb.

Lucy and Emily are such great little buddies. They wanted to do everything together. They had a great time in the boat, on the tube, and on the beach.
Spencer loved the sand, well mostly it was mud. He loved that too.

While I was on the beach with my boys, Ben tried to recreate World of Color for me. He does a nice job, don't you think.
That night we headed to my nephew Hyrum's birthday party. We enjoyed an awesome ice cream bar and dessert. Then we enjoyed fireworks. I think Joseph uses Hyrum's birthday as an excuse to play with fire. But hey we all benefit.
It was a great holiday, and a fun time to spend with lots of family!

How funny, I loved the "happy helper" comment. :) Sometimes I want to say that to my dad too!
